About This Site
What if you could go back in a time machine and see Jesus teach and serve. What might you see or think?
John the baptizer said, "He must increase and I must decrease." I want this to be true of me also. So to help foster the mindset, I've been looking intently at Jesus Christ in the gospels, imagining I'm there as an eyewitness of all He said and did. This is what I see.

The Descent
(Previously posted at dtjsoft.com, Sept. 18, 2011) For let this mind be in you which also was in Christ Jesus, who subsisting in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a slave, having become in the likeness of men and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, having become obedient until death, even the death of a cross. – Philippians 2:5-8 (Green) The journey of the Son of God from heaven to earth can be described in one word: humbling. The One who created … [CLICK TO READ MORE]

Preparing A Way For The Way
Just as with us all, Jesus started out a stranger to His disciples. Many first heard about Him from John the baptist, a man conceived and born for this very purpose. “…he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.” – Luke 1:16-17 (ESV) Since the people might not recognize their Lord when He … [CLICK TO READ MORE]

Discipleship – Then and Now – part 2
Teaching Setting When you look at how disciples were trained in the New Testament versus how they are trained today, you’ll see we’ve come a long way. There’s an abundance of Christian educational opportunities available to us, at least for those of us blessed to live in countries where we can worship freely. Depending on your denomination, you can choose from (take a deep breath) Sunday School, classes for teenagers, young adults, older adults, married couples, and new believers, catechism classes, beginner and advanced discipleship classes, Bible studies, Vacation Bible School, Christian camps, retreats and conferences, seminaries, correspondence courses, and … [CLICK TO READ MORE]

Discipleship – Then and Now – part 1
Introduction And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples… not mere believers. of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV) When I read these verses, I picture someone who has just been given long-awaited rulership over a kingdom. Now, as king, he gives his first … [CLICK TO READ MORE]
